Diane J. Mancino, EdD, RN, CAE, FAAN, is Executive Director of the National Student Nurses’ Association, Inc. (NSNA) and the Foundation of the FNSNA, located in Brooklyn, New York.  She earned a BS in Nursing from the State University of New York at Buffalo; a Master’s in Nursing from New York University; and a Doctorate in Nursing Education from Teachers College Columbia University. She is a certified association manager through the American Society of Association Executives and a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the New York Academy of Medicine. As an activist in the 1980s, working with Nurses Environmental Health Watch, Dr. Mancino championed policy development to protect nurses and other healthcare workers from exposure to medical radiation and chemotherapeutic drugs in New York City.  As a nurse historian she has researched the involvement of nursing students in social and political issues in the 1960s and ‘70s. In her current role as NSNA Executive Director, she is responsible for mentoring the professional formation of nursing students as future nurse leaders.
