Health Equity in Action: Climate Week 2024
The Climate for Health team is proud to have partnered with the National Association of Community Health Centers and the American Public Health Association for a session on climate action and health equity at Climate Week. Hosted at the Sun River Health Bedford Avenue Health Center in Brooklyn, this session featured both local challenges & inspiring action in New York City, as well as national perspectives & resources.
The speakers include:
- Ben Fulgencio-Turner, Director, Climate for Health
- Anne Kauffman Nolon, Chief Executive Officer, Sun River Health
- Zoya Terstein, Staff Writer, Grist
- Julian Watkins, MD, Assistant Commissioner of the Bureau of Health Equity Capacity Building, New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene
- Jessica Hinshaw, Director of Environmental Health, NACHC
- Katherine Catalano, Deputy Director of the Center of Climate, Health & Equity, APHA
Again, thank you to our hosts, Sun River Health. As this was the first year that health was a core theme of Climate Week, it was very important to us to feature local climate impacts and actions in New York City.
